Divorce & Civil Separation

We understand that a marriage breakdown is one of the most difficult times in your life surrounded by many emotions.

As divorce lawyers, we can help guide you through the legal issues during this challenging time, so that you can secure your future and feel more at ease.

We will advise you on the legal impact of the decisions that need to be made with regard to your divorce or separation issues, including your children and assets, and we will ensure that your best interests are our priority.

Consent Order: we would always recommend settling your matrimonial assets in a Financial Order Agreement known as a Consent Order, if your decision is to issue a divorce. This will secure your financial position to account for your circumstances and housing needs. The Consent Order will be tailored to meet your needs and requirements and allows for expected changes in the future.

Children are always of highest consideration in the breakdown of a marriage, and we will endeavour to advise you on how best to reduce the impact on any children involved. We will assist in achieving a workable co-parenting routine and advise you on The Children Act 1989.

We can also deal with high net worth clients and those in the public eye by providing a personalised and tailored divorce or civil separation service to protect your privacy and specific needs.

If divorce/civil separation is too much too soon, then you could consider a Separation Agreement to put your finances and arrangements for children of the family in place. It will secure you in the interim period before you decide whether you want a divorce.

What sets Cheesemans Solicitors apart from other firms?
We understand that every client has different and specific legal needs, and we tailor our service to you, not just to deal with your separation or divorce, but to deal with the needs that are encountered in your wider personal and business lives – areas that you may not have realised will be affected by the breakdown of your marriage.

How much will it cost to get divorced?
Costs for a divorce vary for every case and this can be discussed in an initial meeting. We offer a 30-minute appointment for £100 + VAT and if you decide to instruct us as your divorce solicitor this fee is waived. However, you may be happy to take the legal advice we can give during your appointment in which case the agreed fee becomes payable on the day of your visit.

We offer a fixed fee non-contested divorce package of £700 + VAT. (Please note that this does not include the court fee payable of £550.00)
